Angela Yip of @purplebeanbear started creating teddy bears in 2009 by making graduation bears for her children. Inspired by her mentor Gloria Chan of Hong Kong Teddy Bear Association, Angela has since devoted her work to creating fashionable dressed bears, and won multiple awards including the GOLDEN GEORGE and the URSA. She enjoys getting inspiration through upcycling of fast turnover wardrobe, and tells stories with her bears by producing short video clips. Angela is particularly glad to join the Hugglets TEDDIES Festival because it was where she had her first encounter with teddy bears 30 years ago.

@clumsybears are very excited to attend Hugglets for the first time next Sunday. All the bears, bunnies and elephants are designed and hand made by Marcia at her home in Norfolk, UK. They are made from various materials and range from 5 to 15 inches tall. The name Clumsy Bears came about when Marcia made one of her first bears back in 2014 as a gift for her Mum who was in hospital having a shoulder replacement operation. That bear was made with her arm in a sling, hence the name Clumsy Bears. We look forward to meeting you at Hugglets, look out for the clumsy ones on the Clumsy Bears stand!

Fleeing from her occupied home town she took art instruments with herself to create new works if she stays alive. She survived. And she started to renew her workshop of miniature toys almost from the scratch. Thinking about creativity saved her from despair. Marina creates miniature dodo birds, ducks, teddy bears, parrots and others. All her toys now were born far away from her beloved homeland and with the biggest love ever.

The Hugglets TEDDIES Festival features a great line-up of well-known artists and new faces from the UK, Norway, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Singapore, Italy, Russia, Hong Kong, France and Moldova. Prices range from a few pounds to over £1,000. Both antique and modern bears will be there, plus clothes, accessories and bear-making supplies. Look forward to a joyful day with lots of new discoveries for teddy bear enthusiasts, families and future collectors. 😏 Tickets for £6 are available at the door. Children aged 16 or under go free.

She has new Exclusive Characters which will be revealed at Kensington Town Hall. Sonia likes to create traditional, fantasy and realistic hugs; so there is a great selection for everyone to fall in love with a unique character. Bearmore Bears came to life over twelve years ago in the West Midlands where Sonia creates her characters. Sonia exhibits her Bears at a local Art Gallery (The Art Yard) in Cradley Heath, you can find her there every Monday creating new characters.

A short manual for our Teddy Bear Festivals. The other day a first-time visitor asked around how the Hugglets TEDDIES Festival would be and how to prepare. Here's what long-term exhibitor and auction specialist Joanne McDonald answered:

"MAGICAL! Wear comfy shoes, and bring a bottle of water as the September one can get hot. There is a cafe, but it can get very busy - there are chairs to rest if you want to bring your own supplies. Study the layout before and highlight the people you want to visit first. If you want supplies, I would contact the suppliers in advance so that they can have your order ready for you and won't run out of the items you wish (or might not have with them). Bring a bag to put any purchases in. 🙂 Don't hesitate, as many bears get snapped up quickly. Talk to the exhibitors; they will love it and chat about their bears and will be happy to answer questions. And most of all, ENJOY! 😁"

@cranebeary will be celebrating their Hugglets debut on 18 September at Kensington Town Hall. Most of the teddies for the TEDDIES Festival have yet to be listed in any social media, so you will be the first one to meet them.

CraneBeary Creations are handcrafted by Sim Yee, a self-taught artist based in Singapore. A chance encounter of miniature and dollhouse teddies have inspired her to learn the art of teddy bear making.

Sim Yee's creations are designed with a touch of her personal style, and they are uniquely handcrafted from the heart. She hopes that her bears and friends will bring you delight in their unique way.

A lovely dinner with the team of @teddybear_jtba They are great supporters of our fundraiser for Ukrainian doll and bear makers. About 100 of them will be represented at the Teddy Bear and Friends Convention this weekend in Tokyo. And together with Ukrainian friends, we'll also support a charity for children who lost their parents through the ongoing war.
